The playing surface is always an issue, and Heinz Field has been aweful this winter. It is a shame that a team with as much history and clout as the Steelers are playing on that surface. The ownership should really be ashamed of itself, especially after that monday night game.
The surface will not be the factor that wins or loses the game for either team. The player will. So it is going to be a distraction for the Jags more than the Steelers. But it is sad that it is even brought up, because of it's condition. This is pro football, and the surface shouldn't be in question.

Well if its been dry for a few days then I dont see it being a big role but if its been raining or snowing the past few days and the field is a mess then it will impact the game alot. If its snowing or raining during the game then the passing games will probably suffer and the field will be tough to run on too. The weather conditions before and during the game will affect both teams game plans. With the Steelers missing Willie Parker they will be relying on Ben to pass the ball more. He showed that he could pass in bad conditions during a few bad weather games but I dont think he will be able to keep doing it. I think the Steelers will have an advantage in good conditions but the jags will have an advantage if the weather is bad.

I live in Pittsburgh and the turf is terrible. If it is in his head...maybe it plays a role in how he cuts, but it didn't seem to bother him last time.

We all know that NFL grounds crews take "PRIDE" in insuring that their fields are kept in the best shape possible at all time.

Honestly I don't think it will be any more of a distraction than it was the last time they played. If anything it helped the Jags more when they played the steelers. I thought it would help the steelers being that they are used to it, and all the Jags are used to is the warm weather here in FL. I think the Jaguars are on a roll right now, they seem to have been flying under the radar which I think really helped them. Please don't hate me Ashley, I really believe the steelers are a great team, but I think this game could go either way. Its going to be close.

I think the running style of Fred Taylor will be affected byt the quality of thie field, I also think that it would have affected Parker. I think it being such a sand trap actually lends itself to Davenports lower center of gravity grinding style.
